Description

MicroBox offers the performance benefits of MicroTCA in the most compact-height form factor available today: a space-saving 1U height. Many system applications require up to 10 modules (mid-size, single width) in a compact 19” 1U enclosure with only 200.1 mm depth . The 6 AMC bays can be filled with a wide range of configurations in single or double width Mid-Size modules .

Cooling Units are critical elements in MicroTCA solutions and MicroBox has the best available. The side-to-side cooling configuration has a straight airflow path without bends. It offers the most efficient use of space with the least flow inefficiencies. Unlike enclosures with modules mounted vertical that use 4 to 5U of space for fans, inlet & exhaust, MicroBox efficiently cools the modules with push-pull CUs on the sides of the enclosure. Further, MicroBox is more efficient when stacked in a rack because it expels hot air to the side of the enclosure above, unlike the typical front-to-rear cooled enclosure.

The result is has tremendous thermal performance, MicroBox dissipates 36W per module (mid-size, single width) using 8 fans each rated at 20CFM /1.5” of water. Remote facilities like wireless base stations often have a 300mm deep frame that exacerbates the cooling issues seen with front-to-back cooling enclosures. MicroBox has a solution for these problems with side-to-side cooling.
